Anuket, a rapariga | Anuket, the girl

Desde criança que Anuket abastece de água fresca as ânforas do café Anúbis. De manhã bem cedo antes da escola, e ao final da tarde, quando o sol já não é tão abrasador e a tarefa se torna mais suportável. Cruza-se todos os dias com o filho do dono do café, que é apenas ligeiramente mais velho que ela. Quase se poderia dizer que cresceram juntos, não fosse a sua relação ser apenas baseada em trocas de olhares, uma vezes fugazes, umas vezes profundas. Desde miúdo que ele lhe deixa pequenos presentes escondidos entre as ânforas: biscoitos, flores, desenhos, às vezes um lápis furtado ao pai. Ela retribui, sorrindo com o olhar e sustendo o seu olhar no dele mais tempo do que o habitual. Outras vezes repuxa a saia distraidamente, permitindo que ele vislumbrar os seus tornozelos esguios.

Anuket está agora prestes a terminar a escola e em breve a família escolher-lhe-á um marido, casará e deixará de trabalhar, para construir a sua própria família. Em breve deixará de frequentar o café Anúbis e deixará de ver Rael. A não ser que….

Anuket is about to finish her school years. Soon her family will find her a husband, she will marry and will stop work to raise a family of her own. Soon she will stop to go to coffee shop and will no longer see Rael. Unless...
