A mais bela falcoeira | The most beautiful falconer

 

Foi dificílimo convencer o pai a deixar a sua princesa ser falcoeira. Desde pequenita que a filha do rei se esgueirava sempre que podia para os campos, onde os falcoeiros treinavam os seus animais. As aves fascinavam-na e ela relacionava-se com elas com muita facilidade. A pequena princesa herdara do pai o gosto pela falcoaria, mas a ele afligia-o que uma mulher entrasse nesse mundo de homens, ou que ela se viesse a magoar.

Na verdade, ela era uma falcoeira habilidosa, que causava espanto e admiração. Um dia, um poderoso rei árabe, de passagem pelo reino em negócios, ficou alguns dias no castelo a descanar. O rei árabe uma apaixonado pela falcoaria, tinha saudades das suas aves que deixara em casa e ela ao saber disso, fez questão de lhe mostrar as aves que treinava. 

O rei árabe perdeu-se assim de amores pela princesa e de longe, enviou um renomado artista para pintar o retrato da princesa, de quem tinha tantas saudades.

The Arab king, a passionate falconer, missed his birds that he had left at home, and when she learned of this, she insisted on showing him the birds she was training.

The Arab king thus fell deeply in love with the princess and, from afar, sent a renowned artist to paint the portrait of the princess, whom he missed so much.
