Xerifes do futuro | Becaming sheriff

 

A primeira turma do curso de xerife, acabou hoje a sua formação. Hoje em dia, para ser xerife, já não basta ter uma boa pontaria a saber aplicar um bom murro. As exigências do cargo são cada vez maiores, por isso, no curso ensinam a seguir pistas, identificar notas falsas, falar línguas indígenas e a ler, além de obviamente treinarem a pontaria e a luta corpo-a-corpo.

Os rapazes não quiserem fazer má figura e por isso esmeraram-se e passaram com distinção em todas as matérias. Wyatt e Earl regressarão à sua terra natal, onde vão substituir o velho xerife local, que já passa a maior parte do tempo no bar da vila, do que a desempenhar as suas funções. O Jesse segue para a capital. Diz que quer ser detective privado e vai tentar a sorte por lá. Para já, o Cole vai voltar a trabalhar no rancho da família, mas agora com mais ferramentas para defender a sua terra dos ataques de bandidos e dos índios. Finalmente, o Garrett, vai ser ajudante do pai, xerife na sua terra natal. Espera casar com a sua Belle e terem alguns filhos, antes de substituir o pai e de assumir o cargo.

The first class of the sheriff training course completed their training today. Nowadays, being a sheriff requires more than just good aim and a solid punch. The demands of the role are ever-increasing, so the course teaches skills such as tracking, identifying counterfeit bills, speaking Indigenous languages, and reading, in addition to the standard aim training and hand-to-hand combat.

Determined not to make a poor showing, the young men applied themselves diligently and passed every subject with distinction. Wyatt and Earl will return to their hometown to replace the aging local sheriff, who spends more time at the village saloon than actually performing his duties. Jesse is heading to the capital. He plans to become a private detective and try his luck there. For the time being, Cole will return to work on the family ranch, though now he is better equipped to defend his land against attacks by outlaws and Indigenous tribes. Finally, Garrett will serve as a deputy to his father, the sheriff in his hometown. He hopes to marry his sweetheart Belle and have children before eventually taking over the position from his father.
